Arizona Ethnic Studies Law Signed By Governor Brewer, Condemned By UN Human Rights Experts
Why is it okay for schools to teach their STATE history, but it's not okay to teach kids about other cultures? I'm willing to bet that enrollment in these classes in not limited to people belonging to the ethnicity being taught in a particular program. I'm pretty sure that my Caucasian child would be allowed to take a Mexican heritage or Mexican literature course. Why not? And why is it "the man" (in this case, LITERALLY a man) gets so ruffled when an attempt is made to make curriculum more accurate (there IS a history of oppression here, folks) and well rounded?
